Holiday Hiatus

Hey there.

Yep, it’s been a couple weeks; I was taking time off for the holidays. And, continuing with the honest talk thing, I have never once in my life been “refreshed” or “recharged” after taking time off.
Filled with dread while desperately searching for another way to make a comparable living” usually tops the sentiment-ometer on the day I return to my day job.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot to be done there. Moving on.

So we had a holiday!

It started early with some holiday-themed cupcakes from Grammy…

Then we took Daphne over to Burke Mountain for their cookie decorating event which was…a little underwhelming to be honest. It cost $10 for 5 cookies, 3 of which were overly salty, and they had to literally scrape the bottom of the mixing bowl when we asked for frosting to go atop said cookies.

Those dried globs there were the last they could muster.
She didn’t seem to mind, though.

Then, on Christmas Eve, we put on Daphne’s new base layer and went out to play in the snow.

When did we stop calling these things “thermals”?
“Okay, great! Now haul me back up.”
Incorrect, little one. We’ll take the sled, but you’re hoofing it.

The chickens, however, were having none of it.

“Thank you, no. We gave at the office.”

And after an hour or so of sledding and snow feasting…

We headed back inside where it was warm, and waited for family (and eventually Santa) to arrive.

And arrive, he did.

All this to make one little girl happy on Christmas morning.

Mission accomplished, and all her parents could ask for.

Oh!
That orange/clear hamster Habitrail looking thing that’s running through the presents? That actually turned out to be among Daphne’s favorite gifts this year, Air Toobz.

Using patented “Drive-Thru Bank Deposit” technology from the 1980’s, it essentially fires little foam balls through the tubes (at remarkable speeds) and rockets them out the other side.

I won’t rehash the opening of all of these presents, suffice to say it was a very fun day and we all felt very spoiled. And I hope, whoever and wherever you are, you felt the same way on Christmas Day. Or, at the very least, you got to spend some time reminiscing about the wonderful days of Christmas past.

See you tomorrow.
