Squids & Sweets

Okay, I’m back. (Part of “decompression” meant taking a couple days off here as well.)

So let’s talk about Halloween…

As I said, Daphne told us on her talker that she wanted to be a squid for Halloween this year. And yes, we were every bit as surprised by that answer as you are. So much so, in fact, that we forced her tell us a few times she wanted to be…and did she really want to dress up like a squid? For Halloween? Really?

To which we received resounding “Yes. Squid. Squid. Squid. Yes.” responses on her talker. And so, the girl was a squid for Halloween…

And it was a fantastic costume, if one that had to be altered slightly per sensory requirements.

Daph’s grandparents were in town, so we all went out to the local Trunk n’ Treat gathering at Kingdom Campground just down the road.

The Crocs really complete the ensemble.
My beautiful wife got in on the costuming with a pair of butterfly wings.
I, however, was doing the weird NEK/yuppie hybrid thing that is my stock in trade.

This is actually our second year going to this event. The decorations are top notch, everyone there does a fantastic job with the kids, and Daphne had a great time.

And came home with a fully reasonable haul of candy.

I also made sugar cookies which Jen and Sally decorated.

Then, at Tim’s request, I baked a dish of brownies.

From here…
To here…
And this is what’s left today.

All this and we’re going into the “real” holiday season here in a couple weeks.

Okay, that’s a little too on point, AI… Ouch.

See you all tomorrow.
