Frets Are for Guitars

Because my free time is at a premium these days, I write here rather quickly and with fewer edits than usual. As a result I occasionally miss the mark on the tone I’m aiming for. Yesterday’s post was afflicted by one such malady of alacrity.

I think it conveyed that I’m more worried than I actually am about this storm, and that I’m significantly more aggravated about that weird trench in my road than I actually am.

Dry Moat on Little Egypt.

The truth is I’m really not all that concerned about either. (Ah yes, famous last words…)

The past couple days have been pretty dry and the storm looks to be tracking further westward than originally forecast. It’s also moving way faster than it was down south, so I think we’ll be just fine.

Besides, if things start to get too flooded as a result of the trench I can always just take the matter into my own hands. Perhaps I’ll even enlist the little paws of a particular fat marmot with engineering proclivities, one whom I’m currently sharing my acreage/chickens’ feed with…

No, no, GreyMonkey. The bottom has to be thicker to resist the pascals due to all the water pressure. Twiggy detritus goes on top, then get some mud and leaves to seal the superstructure and redirect the flow.
Damn you’re dumb…

That said, the weather will likely put a damper (zang!) on any potential outdoor birthday plans over the weekend…but we’ll play that bit by ear. Saturday should be sunny and dry again, as will most of next week, so if the town doesn’t flood too badly we might be able to get out of here for a bit.

Besides, we don’t need clear skies to get down on some cupcakes, a large pink box of which arrived yesterday afternoon from Grammy…

Will see you all next week.
