Nursery Rhyme Crimes

I mentioned this yesterday, but Jen and I sing to Daphne. I mean, we sing a lot.

It’s not uncommon for Daph to careen into our room before 6am, bounce onto the bed, and open an early morning request line via her talker.

“Sing. Sleeping Bunnies.”
“Sing. Crocodile Song.”
Sing. Johnny, Johnny”
“Sing. Protect Ya’ Neck.”

Don’t worry. He’s only half as tired as he looks.

This is such a constant in our lives that we can nearly autopilot these performances whilst doing other tasks like reading emails, cooking dinner, attending work meetings, going to the bathroom, etc.

Given that I have such a godawful singing voice, I never expected to be asked to sing so much in my life. Sometimes it’s sans microphone, like the video that I posted yesterday

As you can see, there’s no accounting for musical taste.

However said caterwauling is made empirically worse when she requests that we sing through a voice “enhancing” microphone that she received as a Christmas gift.

This is the “Hellvin & the Impmunks” autotune setting.

But when it makes her that happy, how can you possibly say no?
Short answer: you can’t.
And it’s not just us. Nearly everyone gets coerced at some point or another into singing for Daphne. It’s a strange and mysterious talent she has.

You’re next!

So! Our plans for the weekend are to head over to Wildflower Inn for the Burklyn Arts & Crafts show:

Familiar logo for The Wildflower there…

Jen picked up a print at the Vermont Maple Festival in St. Albans a few months ago and the artist mentioned that he’d be at this festival as well, which is right around the corner from us.

Kevin Ruelle is the artist’s name

We’ve liked it so much that we’re considering getting another one featuring either Lake Willoughby, Burke Mountain, or perhaps Lake Maidstone.

Also (weather depending), we’re planning to either hike at Flume Gorge or take a car ride over to Jay Peak to peruse their indoor water park, both of which are among Daphne’s 2024 Summer Adventures.

We’re already 2 weeks in and we only have a two of these things checked off…

We gotta get crackin’.

Okay, have a great weekend everyone. See you next week.
