Wednesdays are a Paddlin’

My Wednesdays are typically pretty brutal. (Which should explain the late post tonight.)

I have back-to-back meetings nearly all day, during which time I also need to prep for my Thursday calls.
Fortunately I did get a few minutes away today to ride with Jen to the grocery store (and this time with 65% less stomach nausea!) so our pantry is fully stocked again.

I wish I could say the same for our firewood…

About an hour ago I took the toboggan out to haul a fresh stack of wood from the shed.

The Shawboggan 9000

Alas, it seems that all the stacking I did 3 months ago has become so much ash. And after I’d stacked just a single load onto the Shawboggan this was all that was left in the coffers…

About one evening’s worth

Those logs in the back there are too big to fit into our petite woodstove. So I’ll either need to get over the fear of using my axe and get to choppin’ it (which may or may not even work), or I’ll just need to suck it up and buy another cord. (Which, honestly, I’ll likely have to do anyway since it’s not quite February.)

It also didn’t help matters that I got so busy with work that I didn’t get these into the shed before they froze to the ground.

It’s about $375 to get a cord of wood delivered these days; fortunately I have a neighbor who can help in that regard.

Although I’ll tell you this… This time the wood is going back into the damn garage. I am over using the Shawboggan to schlep that stuff to the porch, only to set it on fire a few days later.

Okay, see you tomorrow.
