The time has come.

That’s the chicky brooder sitting there next to our chicken coop.
It seems like a really long time ago that we picked those fluffballs up from the post office…

And those now feathered out girls spent a good portion of the afternoon today hanging out in the coop and getting used to their new home.


That means tonight, after all the girls have gone to bed (including Daphne) Jen and I will steal outside with the brooder and, as quietly as we can, deposit the chickys into the coop with the other girls.
The hope here is that we’ll accomplish this maneuver quietly enough to where the lot of them will wake up in the morning and believe they’ve been a flock all along. (Yes, according to the Internet that’s really a thing; I, of course, have my doubts.)
I promise I’ll try to get some video of this little caper.
