Autumnal Promise

It might be the dog days of summer for many of you, but up here in the NEK temperatures have consistently dipped down to the mid-40’s over the past few nights. And in a rare moment where I was able to step away from my desk and wander around our property today, it became apparent that fall is on its way.

The trees are starting to lose those verdant and vibrant hues of June…

A few, here and there, are even waning toward yellow and red umber…

The sunflowers, however, are finally starting to bloom and seem super happy about how things are going…

Despite being a little chewed up here and there…
Almost there…

The witch’s moneybags are blooming, although to be honest they do creep me out a little…

Even the hydrangea are starting to blush as our summer fades…

“I don’t see what’s so great about it…”
Probably should’ve knocked that fly off before taking this picture…
“Fly? What fly? My fly, my fly! I’ll get ’em!”

And perhaps most importantly, our road is finally starting to get put back together after all the flooding…

Notable absence of waterslides.

You know, I forget how quiet it is here when Daphne is in school… Now I do love our summers with her, but I’ll admit that having several hours of quiet each day is…rather nice.

Okay, back to work. See you tomorrow.
